ICDM'2014

Comments from Participants of ICDM 2014, St. Petersburg, Russia

The 14th Industrial Conference on Data Mining (ICDM 2014) in St. Petersburg, Russia proved to be a rich and diverse experience which will be useful for data mining researcher. The conference was organised over two days where participants had the opportunity to listen and collaborate on a vast number of industrial applications and theoretical topics of data mining. The diverse topics covered made the conference interesting and useful for new ideas.

The ICDM 2014 conference also included a poster session which allowed presenters to discuss state-of-the-art data mining techniques and applications with the conference participants. On the second day, there was an invited talk about E-Voting by Prof. Sergey Ablameyko which introduced new applications for information technology and data analysis. In the end, there was the best paper award which was awarded to the paper by Ian Dent about finding motifs within electricity consumption data using data mining techniques.

Overall, it was a great experience which I would recommend to data mining researchers, whether new or experienced, and industry consultants looking for the latest state-of-the-art in data mining. It was a great opportunity for networking and collaborating with peers from the data mining industry.
